2006 – Calgary to Yellowknife
In 2006, Bob and Chris began their adventure by cycling from Calgary to Jasper. In Jasper they launched their canoe and followed the Athabasca River as it meandered through the boreal forest of Alberta. Merging with the Slave River at Lake Athabasca they portaged and paddled to Great Slave Lake, crossing via the Simpson Islands to reach the north side of that huge lake. They stopped at Yellowknife for the season (45 days, 2500 kms).
